Is Obama a homophobe?

This is a question I been pondering lately. Some people might say that being a homophobe means that you are an anti-gay bigot and hater of the gay community, and one can easily assume that our commander in chief is not any where near those labels. You might argue that Obama has 'been there' for us, that he opposes marriage amendments in the states that ban gay marriage, he signed the repeal of Don't Ask Don't tell, and lastly, he has refused to defend the Defense of Marriage Act in federal court.

To the naked eye, these are things that a pro-gay politician would do. I say, sure. But is that the only thing he can do?

Obama is very well known for signing many executive directives and orders. Many of these orders have been used to strip away constitutional rights like due process and equal treatment, two of the most valuable rights that the gay community cherishes. However, he has failed to even sign a simple executive order to stop government contractors from discriminating or harassing gay employees. In fact, Obama has the power to stop enforcing DOMA and to fully recognize gay people's rights to the 1,400 or so marriage rights that include Social Security benefits, military perks, and immigration rights. But yet this has not happen.

Contrary to popular belief, Obama is deporting gay people who are married in the US. Just the other day I met a gay man whose Mexican same-sex spouse had already been deported to Mexico. His story failed to reach the media, so of course, why would Obama care anyway? Hope and change were nothing but ploys to get you to believe that something different is was going to happen under this president. But if you actually look at his record he is not better than George W. Bush.

My theory as to why he has failed to deliver on gay rights (as opposed to give rich bankers what they want and lots of government contracts to his political supporters) is that Obama is a homophobe. You must understand that Obama is not an anti-gay hater like Rick Santorum. He is a pro-gay homophobe. If you understand the term "homophobia" you would know where I am coming from. The term simply means "fear of homosexuality" not hatred. He is afraid to support gay marriage because it might cause him the election. He is also afraid to do the things I listed above because of the supposed consequences that might ensue. He is only giving the gay community crumbs in a very quiet fashion. In essence, the fear that homophobia produces has overwhelmed the president's judgement.

Obama is a weakling who is not brave enough to do what is right because he has played into the public's "fear of homosexuality" and therefore not only is he bound by it, but he continues to instigate it by his complete and utter arrogance of the plight of every gay person in America. And to be honest with you, this is the most dangerous type of homophobia, being that it can be passed as something good. Its like denying you have a drinking problem, not knowing how much damage you are causing to your body, and playing it as "drinking is cool."
