In a historic decision, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled Friday that gay and lesbian couples across the country have a constitutional right to marry.

Mayor Ralph Becker released the following statement following the Supreme Court ruling on same-sex marriage.

"This is a historic day for our country, the state of Utah and our community as the Supreme Court appropriately extends the right of marriage to every loving couple across the land.
