A majority of Americans want the U.S. Supreme Court to recognize a right to same-sex marriage across the country later this year in a landmark case that could redefine how all 50 states recognize these unions, according to a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll.
Some 58% of American adults would like to see the high court rule in favor of the 16 gay couples challenging same-sex marriage bans in Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee, the poll found, compared with the 37% who do not want the high court to undo those state laws.
