The recipients of the 26th annual GLAAD Media Awards were announced Saturday night at New York’s Waldorf Astoria, with “Live! with Kelly and Michael” host Kelly Ripa scooping the Excellence in Media Award and MSNBC’s Thomas Roberts taking home the Vito Russo prize.
HBO’s “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” earned the award for Outstanding Talk Show Episode for a segment on Ugandan transgender activist Pepe Julian Onziema, while Showtime’s “L Word Mississippi: Hate the Sin” won Outstanding Documentary.
