Texas mom leads attack against Boy Scout anti-gay policy...

A San Antonio-area mother and her teen son have challenged the Boy Scouts of America’s Alamo Area Council to defy the national organization’s policy barring openly gay and lesbian adults from becoming Scout leaders or even members.

Adella Freeman of Converse drafted a Change.org petition after an adult member of Boy Scout Troop 512, based in Schertz, told her at a Feb. 17 meeting that she and her partner, Barbara Wright, could not be members because they are lesbians. The member cited concerns from other members in the troop that she “might be gay.”
