The story of Claudetteia Love, a gay Carroll High School student who won't attend her prom because the dress code requires girls to wear dresses has touched the hearts of a nation.

Love, an honor student, wanted to wear a tuxedo and attend the April 24 prom with a group of friends but the school says she can't.

Since news of Love's plight broke on Thenewsstar.com, national media outlets and gay rights organizations have reached out to both The News-Star and to Geraldine Jackson, Love's mom.
