Currently there two main groups for gay Republicans and conservatives: The Log Cabin Republicans and GOProud. There is much controversy regarding gay republicans/conservatives being that conservative lawmakers have been resisting any progress on gay rights. In 2012, a leading conference for the conservative movement called C-PAC has banned GOProud from its yearly event after conservatives protested the group's sponsorship of the event.
