A federal lawsuit has been filed against the state's gay marriage ban. On December 20, 2013 a federal judge ruled the ban unconstitutional and gay couples began marrying immediately as the ruling faces appeal by state officials. The Supreme Court of the United states however issued a stay halting all gay marriages in the state.
