STATEMENT: Westfield Galleria at Roseville Meets With LGBT Community

Yesterday, leaders from Westfield and the Galleria were grateful for the opportunity to meet with several LGBT leaders from the Roseville, Placer County and Sacramento region – including The Sacramento Gay and Lesbian Center, Sacramento Stonewall Democrats, Sacramento Rainbow Chamber of Commerce, PFLAG (Parents Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) Greater Placer County and Sacramento chapters, and Sierra College Spectrum Committee and Rainbow Alliance.

As a result of this thoughtful, candid discussion, Westfield is auditing its current sensitivity training practices to ensure there is a specific component that addresses LGBT audiences. At the same time, Westfield Galleria is exploring new and constructive ways to partner with leading, local LGBT organizations.

If anyone was made to feel singled out on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity at a Westfield location, we apologize. We enforce a strict zero-tolerance policy on discrimination in any form and remain unequivocally committed to maintaining an industry-leader record on issues of diversity and equality.

In that spirit, Westfield fully embraces the “Love is Love” event scheduled for Saturday. We have met with the organizers and are looking forward to ensuring a safe and successful celebration. The Westfield Galleria at Roseville has been, and will always be, a place where everyone is welcome.
