A gay man who was legally married to his partner in New York wanted to change his last name on his driver's license but was denied to do so by the DMV who said Pennsylvania law does not recognize gay marriage even though it is perfectly legal to change the name under general state law. After many phone calls the couple were able to finally get a new driver's license with the appropriate name change.
