REPORT: British Ambassador to Chile Says Chilean Lawmaker Criticized Him For His 'Proximity to Faggots'

The incident occurred Monday in Congress, where President Piñera gave his public speech. The writer Paul Simonetti felt "incredible" that happened while the president stressed the anti-discrimination law.

The British Ambassador in Chile, Jon Benjamin, charged that "a deputy" (lawmaker) approached him Monday in Congress while President Sebastián Piñera was giving his third public address, to criticize him for his proximity to the "fagots".

"A Member, I will not name, came over and asked, 'Why are you so cranky with these faggots?'. Sad to hear that," the diplomat wrote on his Twitter account .

Through the same social network replied Equal Foundation President Paul Simonetti: "Amazing that a deputy of the republic is allowed to say such things to an ambassador, after the adoption of AD law."

The anti-discrimination law was, in fact, one of the issues highlighted Sebastian Pinera in his speech at the Plenary Hall of Congress. At the ceremony were invited relatives of Daniel Zamudio and Movilh leaders.

On Thursday of last week, the British Embassy raised the rainbow flag representing sexual diversity concerning the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia.
