The person behind the viral video of him showing shooting a sign opposed to the marriage amendment has been identified as as 17-year-old Jonathan Alexander Wiles.
Wiles received a visit from the Sheriff's office after noticing the viral video. Sheriff Deputies spent around one hour interviewing the teen and cited for discharging a firearm within close proximity to a residential district.
Officials stated that the investigation is still not over and Wiles might still face even more charges. They have also released the following statement:
"We have uncovered nothing to make us think he has any terroristic tendencies or violent leanings... It was very clear to the investigators that this young man had no intent to harm anyone."***

The Gay Report has not been able to verify the authenticity of this video but so far law enforcement is investigating the incident to determine if he shot his own sign or another person's sign. Of course, shooting at someone else's property is against the law in North Carolina that carries stiff penalties.
