Chile's prime gay rights group Movilh has denounced such discrimination saying that is very "disgusting" and comparing it to "apartheid."
The group was made aware of such discrimination through social media as the owners renting the loft posted the announcement on local websites, those that function much like craigslist in the US. The add read: "Luxurious loft offered for rent, perfect for singles or heterosexual couples. No pets. Parking and manager included."
Movilh has asked the websites with the anti-gay announcement to take it down, and it appears that one of them has already.
In Chile it is against the law to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation in providing some goods, services and housing. So far no formal complaint with authorities has been lodged, being that no gay couple has actually been denied the loft.
