Truth Wins Out’s Executive Director Wayne Besen called attorney Michael Hamar today and instructed him to prepare a lawsuit against Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays (PFOX) this week. TWO sent a letter to the organization demanding an apology after the group’s President, Greg Quinlan, said on a television show — without a shred of evidence — that Besen tried to have him killed.
It appears that PFOX is preparing to ignore the letter and fired back with what appears to be a flagrantly dishonest and combative reply. The group wrote a story for its blog that showed up on Google outing its absurd strategy — which is to try to portray Truth Wins Out as a hate group. The headline in the deleted blog post was: “PFOX Responds to Ex-Gay Hate Blogger’s Demands.” We will have to wait until PFOX reposts to learn of its defense and intentions.
“This is the last chance for PFOX to apologize for its incontrovertible defamation of character against me and my organization,” said TWO’s Executive Director Wayne Besen. “If they think we are bluffing they will find out otherwise when they are slapped with a lawsuit. As sure as the sun rises and sets TWO will take legal action against PFOX if the snippet we saw on Google is indicative of their final response to our letter.”
According to Quinlan’s interview on News-Plus with Mark Segraves (WDCW-TV):
“Truth Wins Out if you look further, including Wayne Besen. He’s asked for people, you know, somebody needs to run Greg over. He needs to be hit with a bus. Somebody should inject him with AIDS. Those are the things that Wayne Besen and Truth Wins Out says about me. That’s pretty hateful rhetoric.”
“The bizarre and defamatory scenario portrayed by Quinlan exists only in his own mind,” said Wayne Besen, Executive Director of Truth Wins Out. “What he said is entirely fabricated and a dishonest and brazen attempt to smear me personally, destroy my reputation, and discredit the good work of Truth Wins Out.”
