Media Graphix In Norcross GA Added To Anti-Gay Business To Avoid

The Gay Report, after carefully and objectively considering the evidence, has decided to include the printing company Media Graphix in Norcross GA to our list of 'Anti-Gay Businesses To Avoid' for discriminating policy against the LGBT community and its allies.

Recently, the owner of Carma Productions, which produces 'The Gay Yellow Pages,' asked the company for a price on a printing job for 'The Gay Yellow Pages.' The company later returned by saying that it could not print the publication because it is against their 'moral objection' policy which prohibits the printing of 'any materials that promotes or advertises homosexuality.' The job was not completed and service was denied.

We believe that discrimination is blatantly apparent and the owner of the company does not deny discriminating based on sexual orientation that is being 'promoted' in the material of which they are asked to print. The owner of the company stressed that he does not engage in discrimination because it is also their policy not to discriminate in hiring, and providing services based on the employee's/costumer's orientation. He also adds that he has employed gay people, promoted them and that they are aware of the policy. No evidence was provided.

However the company is accused of discriminating against LGBT material and not employees and customers. Which we find is rather duplicitous that a company would stress that they do not discriminate based on sexual orientation but on the other hand not deny that they do discriminate against printing material that is of a homosexual orientation. There is no evidence to suggest that the company has a policy against all sexually suggestive material, only against strip joints and pornography, quite blatantly the company has a policy targeting one specific type of sexual orientation, that of homosexuality. We believe that it is rather odd that the company does not understand that discrimination on paper is at the most the same as discriminating against an individual. We asked the company if they feel that having a policy against printing any Jewish material, or material that promotes the Jewish religion, would be a form of discrimination based on religious beliefs. The company refused to reply.

The policy makes it seem that banning homosexual materials is meant to appease some objections from the workforce, which one can lead to ask what kind of workforce they do actually have if such workforce has moral objections against homosexuality and homosexuals. This area is not clear yet, but it is worth to note.

We find it quite disturbing that a company would be engaging in this type of new discrimination and deny that it is actually actively participating in such. But what is more disturbing are the outcomes. Where employment discrimination affects one person, this type of discrimination affects thousands of people in the Atlanta area. When this printer decided not to print material that is relevant to the gay community, said printer is engaging in specific censorship. Where as war, violence, racism, can and do affect us all, homosexuality only affects those of the gay/lesbian community which science has now come to conclude is immutable, like other personal human traits. The fact that the company chose to place homosexuality in the same category as pork, racism, war, and violence is quite interesting and should be noted.

The company can in fact make reasonable accommodation when homosexual themed materials need to be printed. If any employee objects to working on such projects then the materials can be better managed by somebody at the company who has no objections. We understand that the owner claims that he has gay employees, well why not, then, have these gay employees manage such projects for the costumer?

These questions further brings us closer to the determination that the company has anti-gay sentiment, has specifically targeted the gay community for censorship and although they say that they do not discriminate based on sexual orientation in hiring and services, we believe their type of discrimination is sinister and even more damaging, one that deserves the utmost condemnation of a boycott and ask all business and individuals in the area to not engage in any business with such company that has such duplicitous and discriminatory practices.
